ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The primary purpose of the Scientific Manager position is to provide scientific, operational and financial management and oversight in the Department of Neurosurgery. This person will serve as the administrator for the identification, creation, and submission of grant proposals, including the liaison between collaborators involved in such efforts. This person will be involved with the acquisition of new collaborations, and will serve as a liaison between existing research initiatives, including the GBM Moonshot and SPORE. The Scientific Manager will be responsible for the creation of grant progress reports, as well as renewal applications. The Scientific Manager will also be responsible for the identification and acquisition of new philanthropic opportunities, as well as scientific progress under existing funding agencies. The Scientific Manager will also assist in the development of the scientific planning and maintain professional and cooperative relationships with administrators, research scientists/investigators, platform members, Core Laboratory Directors, and other executive level healthcare and academic professionals to ensure efficient communication, follow-through, and coordination of scientific short/long range goals are met. The Scientific Manager will also be involved in the creation and expansion of a summer program aimed at the acquisition of women and minorities in STEM. Job Duties to include: Scientific and Technical Oversight, Neurosurgery Laboratory Operations Management, Financial and Grant Management.
Minimum: $85,000 – Midpoint: $127,350 – Maximum: $169,700
Required: Bachelor’s degree in one of the basic sciences.
Preferred: Master’s degree in one of the basic sciences or PhD.
Required: Seven years relevant research experience to include two years in a supervisory/managerial capacity. With preferred Masters degree, five years of required experience to include two years in a supervisory/managerial capacity and with preferred PhD, three years of required experience to include two years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
