Develops various types of content for the web and social media platforms with a focus on cancer prevention and healthy lifestyle messages. Collaborates with the Integrated Media team to align content and strategy. Monitors trends and current topics in cancer prevention, and best practices in writing for web and social media platforms to inform work.
Content production. Develops ideas and produces cancer prevention and healthy lifestyle content for digital platforms including MD Anderson’s monthly online cancer prevention newsletter (Focused on Health) and other institutional outlets. Identifies opportunities to produce content in all formats and oversees production of videos, articles, infographics and animations, Collaborates with the Integrated Media team to align overall strategies and content. Develops, implements and evaluates strategies to increase readership and promote content. Selects photos and write supporting text for web, email and social media posts to promote content. Optimizes content for search engines. Monitors trends and current topics in cancer prevention and best practices in writing for web and social media platforms to inform work. Clear, consistent and accurate writing and editing in all work products, along with command of Associated Press style, as well as MD Anderson style is required.
Social media. Develops content and manages the Focused on Health Twitter account. Develops, executes and measures strategies for increasing followers and engagement. Collaborates with the Integrated Media team to produce prevention and healthy lifestyle content for the institution's Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat and YouTube platforms. Records metrics for each. Initiates and monitors paid social media.
Program support. Works with a graphic designer to produce flyers, ads and other materials to support internal and external initiatives, programs and events. Serves as copy editor for printed educational materials and other projects.
Measurement. Tracks and analyzes web, social media and e-newsletter metrics, provides status reports, and identifies and solves problems based on metrics. Uses metrics to inform processes, content and content promotion strategies
Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
Preferred degree: Masters degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or Related Field.
Required: Four years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field.
With preferred degree, two years of required experience.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
