MD Anderson Cancer Center Senior Research Assistant- Genetics in Houston, Texas
The Genetics department is a basic science department located in the George and Cynthia Mitchell Basic Sciences Research Building at the world-renowned University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The focus is on advancing knowledge of the molecular genetic mechanisms that regulate normal and abnormal cellular processes.

The Senior Research Assistant provides supervision, special and general training to laboratory members and/or highly technical work in mouse-related experiments. Performs high-level mouse experiments, including various mouse surgery and manages mouse colonies and mouse protocols
KEY FUNCTIONS
Exercises considerable imagination, initiative and inventiveness in planning and executing the details of mouse experiments and in evaluating and interpreting the results. The experiments involve determining the role of dietary factors on colon cancer development using mouse models and cultured cells.
Oversees lab equipment and supplies and maintains inventory necessary to complete projects and experiments as assigned.
Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding equipment, procedures and safety.
Supervises and collaborates with lab members and assists them as assigned or delegated.
Carry out lab duties that include purchasing, organization and lab safety
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Required : Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
Preferred: Master's Degree.
Experience :
Required: Three years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
