MD Anderson Cancer Center Senior Research Data Coordinator in Houston, Texas
SUMMARY
To provide administrative and patient care services for the coordination of clinical research studies for the Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology. Coordinates the development of and assists with maintenance of paper flow for protocols and dissemination of data resulting from the protocols, for the completion of data forms, treatment records and review of records before submission to pharmaceutical companies, federal agencies, internal groups, and other institutions. Coordinates communication between these groups and department chairman in regard to research studies.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Data Collection and Reporting
Develops and maintains a processing and tracking system for all protocol related paperwork. A basic knowledge of medical terminology is required. Must be able to use a computer with manual keyboard and have word processing skills.
Assists in the data collection, enters data in a timely manner and provides reports/updates as requested. Follows and complies with institutional, state, and/or federal regulations for study initiation, conduct and termination. Extracts data from electronic health records and assists in the collection of missing and delinquent data from study participants.
Protocol Support
Manages flow of monitors for protocols as assigned. Includes oversight of the monitor visit and assurance of the completion of auditor/monitor checklists.
Assists in post award invoicing for clinical trial projects -patient reimbursement, patient care costs (imaging, lab, and biopsy), review and confirmation of payments.
Scheduling and Sample collection.
Screens and consents patients as per the protocol requirements.
Schedules and assist sample collection, diagnostic tests and return appointments per protocol schema. Arranges delivery to protocol directed location as outlined. Maintains schedules for timely submission of protocol data. May require use of electronic calendars and/or manual calendars. Assists research nurse in the registration and randomization of patients.
Training other research personnel
- Training new personnel in the research team for collection of specimens, as per protocol requirements.
Other duties as assigned.

Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
Experience
Required: Four years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.
