Senior Research Nurse - Surgical Oncology
The Surgical Oncology department treats patients with a wide variety of malignant and benign tumors.
T he ideal candidates will have Interventional Treatment Trial and current Research Nurse experience. Should be able to work independently.
Function: Provides advanced clinical and operational management of research protocols.
Impacts research protocols and patients in designated protocols. Scope of position is defined by the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Texas and requires adherence to the policies and procedures of the institution.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs all functions of a research nurse.
In addition, responsible for the overall effective operation of designated protocols, which includes development, design and resolution of operations and budget issues in collaboration with the principal investigator or study sponsor.
Acts as a liaison with sponsor institutions and sponsoring pharmaceutical companies.
Ensures accurate collection, validation and statistical analysis of data in designated protocols.
Independently performs clinical tasks including patient assessment, screening, ordering tests, collecting specimens, monitoring responses and administering medications.
Plans, designs and provides complex professional and ancillary staff education on protocols through in-services, presentations and written communications.
Leads multidisciplinary team to effectively meet protocol goals.
Develops and implements patient education materials.
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Required: Two years of registered nurse experience
Preferred: Prior Research Nurse experience
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
