MD Anderson Cancer Center Sr Clinical Strategic Portfolio Planner - Clinical Infrastructure Admin in Houston, Texas

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Clinical Strategic Operations Planning, the Lead Clinical Strategic Portfolio Planner position in Clinical Infrastructure is primarily responsible for supporting strategies that enable Clinical Operations to effectively use its physical space and prepare for future spatial needs. This role is vital to the creation and implementation of the Master Facility Framework which governs the development of new campuses / buildings and the improvement of existing locations. This role also assists the Strategic / Facilities Master Planning efforts including Clinical Operations Plans for multiple operational areas.

This role is also responsible for the coordination / supervision of consultants who support the services stated above.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Master Facility Framework Creation and Management

Manages content, storage, revisions and dissemination of documents in an organized fashion. Updates documents regularly to align with new information and evolving clinical operations needs. Identifies areas where special expertise is required to inform strategic planning. Assists with securing funding and oversees efforts of consultants when major updates require external support.

Strategic Planning Development and Execution

Leads and assists with studies, including Departmental, Divisional and Institutional Strategic / Planning. Gathers and synthesizes information from many sources and generates clear recommendations. Provides guidance to Leadership, End Users, Project Planners and Project Managers and serves as a Subject Matter Expert that encourages space use and project planning to advance in alignment with approved Strategic Plans and Institutional Design Standards. This includes advising on design guidelines, space-use targets, as well as project programming and planning for our clinical operations.

Data Gathering and Analysis

Leverages information relating to many disciplines including architecture, design, campus planning, space planning, capital planning, business planning, operations, real estate, construction and data management. Synthesizes information relating to departmental / facility operations, Key Planning Units, spatial benchmarks, soft / hard cost benchmarks, building codes/ regulatory mandates/ grant-oversight requirements, building system types, existing building stock, space use data, employee data, capital plans and cash flows, business proformas and construction practices. Collaborates with Asset Information Team to be able to access and maintain high-quality data and accurate floor plans needed to support the duties of this role.

G raphic and Active Presentation Skills

Presents information clearly in stand alone documents, and when actively presenting. Communicates at many levels of detail, and for a wide range of audiences and purposes.

Customer Interaction/SME

Handles high complexity customers and functions as a subject matter expert. Fosters collaboration with leaders, subject matter experts, end users and other stakeholders in order to continually learn about clinical operations needs, make informed strategic recommendations, and implement approved strategic plans.

Business Planning/ Capital Planning

Develops assumptions for scope, cost, budgets and cash flow associated with capital projects identified in the Master Facilities Framework and other Strategic Plans. Works with Leadership and Subject Matter Experts as required to be able to present business case.

Real Estate

Supports evaluation of existing and potential properties. Identify areas where growth is needed and work with Real Estate department to assess potential parcels or structures. Evaluate aging building stock and determine feasibility of continued use.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or related field.

Preferred: Master's degree in Architecture or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Five years healthcare planning and designing or related experience to include two years project/program management. With preferred degree, three years healthcare planning and designing or related experience to include project/program management.

Preferred: Five years of project/program management experience.
