MD Anderson Cancer Center Sr. Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient - Main Campus (10:45pm - 7:15am) in Houston, Texas

  1. Medication Preparation and Distribution

  2. Accurately and efficiently fill cartfill and first doses

  3. Accurately and efficiently pull medications to refill controlled access cabinets

  4. Accurately and efficiently deliver medications/supplies to designated areas

  5. Accurately and efficiently prepare all types of sterile products including SVP, LVP, chemotherapy, biotherapy and investigational agents

  6. Accurately and efficiently prepare high-risk sterile products

  7. Accurately and efficiently prepare extemporaneous compounds

  8. Accurately and efficiently repackaging bulk medications

  9. Demonstrates proficiency in two or more specialized areas of expertise meeting accuracy and productivity standards

  10. Hazardous/Investigational Sterile Compounding

  11. High-risk Sterile Compounding

  12. OR Satellite

  13. Critical Care/Pediatric Pharmacy

  14. Inventory Control

  15. Controlled Substance Vault

  16. Nonsterile Compounding

  17. Ordering/Receiving medications

  18. Tech-check-tech certified

  19. Inventory Management

  20. Accurately and efficiently order medications and supplies

  21. Accurately and efficiently receive/restock medications and supplies

  22. Accurately and efficiently complete cycle counts and inventory audits

  23. Outdate expired or soon to expire medications in a timely manner

  24. Ensure medication security and accountability at all times

  25. Monitors area inventory and supplies, notifies appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages noted.

  26. Other duties as assigned


Education :

Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred : Certificate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or 2 years of college credit.


Required: Two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital, infusion center or retail pharmacy.


Required: Current and Active Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred: Current ASHP Accredited Sterile Products Certification.
