MD Anderson Cancer Center Supervisor, Advanced Practice Provider - Radiation Oncology in Houston, Texas

This position will support the Radiation Oncology Clinic. Ideal candidate will have radiation oncology experience and/or experience in oncology.

Administratively supervises plans and coordinates the outpatient clinical advanced practice provider (APP) team. Impacts the outpatient clinical advanced practice provider teams in Radiation Oncology to include overall operations, staffing, operational planning and budgeting, quality assurance and administration of activities and personnel that impact outpatient clinical operations.


Administratively supervises outpatient advanced practice provider staff and operations.

Supervises the day-to-day operations and procedures for the outpatient clinical practice team.

Develops and administers policies and procedures.

Ensures that appropriate personnel are in place by developing and managing a staffing plan for the team.

Develops and monitors staff compliance with education and training requirements.

Completes all performance evaluations and PDM/RDM evaluations as applicable.

Works with Section Chief to assign rotations through outpatient physician clinics and/or inpatient service assignment for the rotational position.

Works with Director, Clinical Services and Operations and Faculty in the recruitment (screening candidates, interviewing and candidate selection) of APP's.

Ensures new advanced practice providers are oriented to the department and institution.

Acts as a liaison between Faculty, Administrators and the APP team.

Assists Director, Clinical Services and Operations with performance improvement process as needed for assigned clinical team or individuals.

Assures that APP's function in accordance with federal and state regulatory standards and institutional policies and procedures.

Ensures appropriate goal alignment of outpatient APPs within department.

Functions as a clinical Advanced Practice Provider, a portion of the time.


Degree requirements as defined by the Texas State Board Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) or Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (TSBNE), as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.


Required: Two years of experience as an advanced practice provider.

Preferred: Experience in Oncology; preferably radiation oncology


Required: Current license and/or certification as defined by the (TSBPAE) or (TSBNE) as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
