MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoc Fellow - Dr. Guojun Li in MDA-On-Site, United States
Head and Neck Surgery department will deliver the highest possible clinical care for patients with cancer of the head and neck. Using an interdisciplinary approach, experts from across disciplines come together to provide state-of-the-art care for patients with all types and stages of head and neck cancer. The Postdoctoral fellow position will work on one of our research projects on imaging and molecular epidemiology and translational study of head and neck cancers. The candidate will combine cellular and molecular expertise with imaging and epidemiological skills and approaches to identify biomarkers and will use these biomarkers to identify subgroups at high risk for cancer prevention and prediction of clinical outcomes. The projects in this position aim to identify genetic susceptible biomarkers for treatment, early detection, and prevention of head and neck cancers, particularly HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancer.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Objective 1. In the first 3-4 months, the candidate will learn basic study design, data collection, and data analysis of molecular epidemiology study of one of my projects on head and neck cancers. By the end of her training period, the candidate will master the following 1) case-control or case-case study design, 2) development of study database for collected data, and 3) use statistical tools, such as SAS program, for data analysis.
Objective 2. The candidate will learn to present research results in our weekly lab meeting or national meeting. By the end of the training appointment, the candidate will know how to make slides for research presentation and get experience for data presentation for her own research.
Objective 3. The candidate will learn how to prepare the manuscripts for research and expect that the candidate will probably have 1 to 2 scientific papers to be published within her one-year training.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Minimum required: 1-2 experience in biological, medical, and imaging research in cancer patients.
POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
