MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Anatomic Pathology - Research in MDA-On-Site, United States

We immediately seek a postdoctoral fellow who is a recent PhD or MD/PhD graduate in biomedical science, pathology, and cancer research. The ideal candidate will have a successful study track record and documented publications in internationally peer-reviewed scientific journals. Final selection will be based on the expertise and motivation of the candidate.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This position's main goal is to study the underlying mechanisms of polyploid giant cancer cells in therapeutic resistance. Polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs) can give rise to therapy-resistant cells in various types of solid tumors, but the underlying mechanisms that are associated with irradiation, chemotherapy drugs, olaparib-resistance in high-grade serous carcinomas (HGSCs), and other cancers - is unknown. The successful candidate will join our lab in contributing to the development of preclinical projects that include multiple experimental approaches including in vitro tissue culture of PGCCs, stem cell differentiation, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, liver cell image and time-lapse, and animal models. This role will also include analyzing and interpreting data, managing data to communicate scientific findings at informal and formal meetings, and preparing abstracts and manuscripts for presentation and publication in peer-reviewed journals. As such, the ideal candidate must have demonstrated ability to conduct independent scientific investigations.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must have a track record of successful Ph.D. study, preferably with a diagnostic pathology and have documented publications in internationally peer-reviewed scientific journals and great scientific English language skill. In addition to superb lab skills, the candidate must have demonstrated ability to conduct independent scientific investigations. A strong background in cell biology, cancer biology, molecular biology, and pathology is required. The position will be open until filled.

POSITION INFORMATION

MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
