Job Information

MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Bioinformatics & Comp Biology in MDA-On-Site, United States

A full-time postdoctoral fellow position is available in Professor Wenyi Wang's lab in the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Wang's laboratory research aims to gain new knowledge in the evolution of the human genome and the cancer genome using statistical methodologies and machine learning techniques. These two topics are fundamental to the understanding of the initiation, progression, and treatment of human diseases. This position will perform methodological research under either of the two research programs: 1) survival analysis in cancer for risk prediction and clinical decision making; 2) statistical methods for delineating tumor heterogeneity and cancer evolution.

The position will involve a mixture of methodological and collaborative research in biostatistics, bioinformatics, and genetics. The methodological research may include but is not limited to developing novel methods for time-to-event modeling, multivariate statistics, high-dimensional and spatial data modeling. The collaborative research may include but is not limited to software tool dissemination into clinical practice and participation in the multi-institutional efforts in studying cancer. This position will require writing statistical/biostatistical manuscripts, assisting in writing biomedical manuscripts, developing/maintaining statistical software packages, and other academic activities.
