MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Cancer Biology - The Kalluri Lab in MDA-On-Site, United States

The Kalluri laboratory at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join the team. The group's rapidly expanding research program is focused on the molecular underpinnings of cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis and the translation of these findings into novel therapeutic approaches. The laboratory focuses on innovative research in the area of cancer biology with a specific focus on oncogene addiction, stromal biology, exosome biology, tumor microenvironment, tumor metabolism, and tumor immunology. Our publications on the stromal biology of cancer (Ozdermir et al. 2014, Cancer Cell), exosome biology in cancer (Kalluri & LeBleu, 2020, Science, Melo, et al., 2014 Cancer Cell; Melo et al. 2015, Nature), tumor immunology (Ozdermir et al. 2014, Cancer Cell; Carstens et al. 2017, Nature Communications), metastasis (Zheng et al. 2015, Nature; Lovisa et al. 2015, Nature Medicine), exosome mediated oncogene targeting (Kamerkar et al. 2017, Nature) and tumor metabolism (LeBleu et al. 2014, Nature Cell Biology, Becker et al. 2020, Cell Reports), form the framework for the next set of projects that use innovative technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9, single cell and nuclei sequencing, exosome engineering and animal models to address cutting-edge questions in cancer biology.

The Kalluri laboratory strives to transform seminal basic cancer research to inform clinical translation of such findings and will obtain and employ any required technology to address important unanswered questions in cancer biology. With strong funding from the NCI, CPRIT, and other sources, the laboratory is well positioned to exploit the new avenues for fundamental discoveries in cancer and translate such findings to the clinic, exploiting the translational potential of MD Anderson Cancer Center.


Augment existing knowledge and skills in a focused area of research in a systematic manner to complete a comprehensive training program in biomedical research with the goal of developing into an independent researcher.


Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. degree with a strong background in immunology. The ideal candidate would be committed to solving important questions in cancer biology using innovative and out of the box thinking. They should demonstrate enthusiasm for science, strong interpersonal and communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, and be able to work in dynamic teams. The candidate must be interested in exosome biology, tumor biology, tumor microenvironment, mouse modeling of disease, and advancing therapeutic testing.


MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the "Kirchstein - NRSA". This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
