MD Anderson Cancer Center Jobs

Job Information

MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Systems Biology in MDA-On-Site, United States

Dr. Ruoyan Li's laboratory performs research aiming to understand how cancer initiates from early normal cells and evolves into complex clonal architectures and multicellular ecosystems. The lab seeks to address this question by applying and developing cutting-edge genomics, single cell multiomics, and spatial genomics technologies. Current research directions in the lab include (1) studying somatic mutations in normal and premalignant tissues and their impact on cancer development; (2) understanding premalignant progression and mutant clonal evolution; (3) resolving the microenvironment of premalignancy and cancer in space and time. This individual will apply and develop computational methods to analyze large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, single-cell, and spatial sequencing data to study questions related to these research directions.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Gain or advance skills in the analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, single-cell, and spatial sequencing data using computational approaches, surrounding the study of somatic evolution in normal and precancerous tissues and tissue microenvironmental changes in the context of cancer evolution. Develop new computational software/tools/pipelines for multiomic, single-cell, and spatial genomics data analysis. Learn to develop independent lines of research. With the support of faculty mentor(s) independently develop new lines of research.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with Ph.D. training and a strong background in one or more of the following: bioinformatics, cancer genomics, single-cell genomics, computational biology, or data science. This individual will apply and develop computational methods to analyze large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic sequencing, and single-cell sequencing datasets to understand cancer initiation and evolution.

A successful candidate should have strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R, etc), experience in next-generation sequencing data analysis, strong communication skills, and experience in writing scientific manuscripts. Experience in cancer genomics, single cell/spatial genomics, and algorithm development is preferred.
