MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Translational Molecular Pathology in MDA-On-Site, United States

The Translational Molecular Immunoprofiling Moon Shots Platform (TMP-IL) in the Department of Translational Molecular Pathology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the team. The successful candidate will help perform cutting-edge research and development interfacing with our scientists and clinicians by developing computational pathology solutions in the context of immune profiling data. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

-To learn aspects of cancer research undertaken in a hospital/research institute

-Perform spatial digital image analysis of stained slides under the supervision of the leaders of the TMP-IL. The analysis of samples includes different tissue types for biomarker analysis and immunoprofiling of scientific translational research projects of TMP-IL including Alliances, Moonshot projects and grants.

-To learn data analysis for translational cancer research. Provides technical expertise, including bioinformatics analysis and data integration to design and develop research projects in an independent manner. Compiles analysis generated, records results in concordance with standard methodology, and submits results to the directors within the TMP-IL.

-To develop research projects using multiplex methodologies for biomarkers analysis on tissue samples. Develop computational and programming research projects using novel multiplex-based techniques (CODEX, GeoMx DSP, Visium, IMC) from different tumor types for biomarkers analysis of complex research projects of TMP-IL. Builds results sharing database and computational infrastructure at TMP-IL.

-To understand how studies done in laboratories can have an impact on patient care in the future

-The trainee will learn how to perform advanced statistical and computational analysis on path data

-The trainee along with the mentor will present his/her data in lab meetings.

-The trainee will participate in departmental education activities in particular those offered by ITERT.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

An individual holding a recent (within three years) Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in an appropriate field who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research or scholarship in preparation for an academic or research career as an independent investigator. This appointment is not part of a clinical training program; individuals holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.

POSITION INFORMATION

MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
