While MD Anderson - The Woodlands treats all types of cancers, the faculty has particular expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of the following cancers: Breast; Colorectal; Dermatology and skin; Endocrine; Genitourinary; Gynecologic; Head and neck; Neurologic; Thoracic.
Ideal candidate will have 5 years of nursing experience preferably in one or more of the following area: ambulatory procedural areas like IR, Pulmonary, Endoscopy, PACU/PREOP, onboarding staff , coaching and mentoring.
The primary purpose of the Clinical Development Specialist / Educator - Procedures - position is to serve as a clinical expert in outpatient oncology infusion nursing to improve the quality of patient care. Through the use of evidence based practices, and collaboration with management ensures a standard level of nursing care is provided in the patient care areas.
The Clinical Development Specialist is a clinical expert in outpatient oncology infusion that educates nurses on the application ambulatory treatment care aligned with a multidisciplinary team:
Serves as an expert in oncology infusion nursing throughout the spectrum of complex patient care needs
Assess competency and provides coaching and mentoring for the ATC nursing staff designed to develop clinical knowledge and skills
Collaborates with area management and the nursing education department to design tools and methodologies to improve skills of clinical staff
Provides educational opportunities to the nursing staff which fosters professional growth, strengthens problem solving and critical thinking skills in collaboration with nursing education department
Incorporates infusion, oncology nursing standards, institutional ATC policy and procedures into practice
Identifies annual competencies and facilitates validation in collaboration with nursing education department and area management
Participates in area based initiatives directed at improving clinical practices and patient outcomes
Evaluates outcomes for quality, effectiveness, efficiency, cost effectiveness, customer satisfaction and ethical considerations
Collaborates with providers across the ATC enterprise to ensure educational initiatives and compliance standards met
Provides clear delineation of duties between educational and managerial roles
Other duties as assigned
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Required: Five years registered nursing experience
Five years of clinical nursing experience to include two years of staff development or formal clinical education.
Required: All of the following: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
Any of the following:
Board certified (RN-BC) in Professional Development by the American Credentialing Center.
Certified as an Oncology certified Nurse (OCN) by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.
